Our History


Pieces of Heaven was established by Katherine Hoshor in 1987. Acquired by Peg and Bob Whitted in 1995, Pieces of Heaven has garnered a reputation as the premier chocolatier on the Monterey Peninsula and provides some of the most exclusive peninsula resorts with confections.

With their 22 year background in creating chocolates, the product line has been continually expanded and refined to satisfy the discriminating palette of their loyal clientele. Only the finest premium chocolate, fresh roasted or raw nuts, pure creamery butter and heavy cream and purest ingredients are used to create  the most delectable treats imaginable.  The highest quality and freshness are ensured by hand making small batches in the old world method.

The owners have taught numerous adult education classes and have donated many chocolate classes to various non-profit organization fundraisers.  Lyceum children in the peninsula area have taken chocolate classes at Pieces of Heaven as a way to broaden their horizons and have fun as well.

Peg and Bob have each achieved the title of Master Confectioner, Emeritus through the years of making chocolates, candy schools and attending seminars with Retail Confectioners International.  Peggy also received the Frank Smullen Award for Scholarship, Leadership and Cooperation through the RCI Candy School in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1998.
